Seriously? You think an Uber driver wants their private auto covered in blood and vomit??? Or have someone screaming in pain or yelling. Maybe it would un nerve the driver. I’m not so sure about this. What about the liability? Everyone is so sue happy today, what if a victim/patient winds up suing the driver because they did not get them to the ER in a timely manner. Would an Uber driver want to pick someone up who is ill?

Tanya Prola you’re being disengenuous when you claim they would have a contract with Uber. I suppose you supported Napster back in the day when illegally downloading copyrighted material was the fad? Shame on you Tanya for your lack of ethics.

Michael Schroeder I don’t know about that, it is my humble opinion that Tanya sounded very reasoned and ethical in her response. As it says right under her name, she is an EMT at rural metro where as under your name there is what I’m pretty sure I’d just a euphemism for being unemployed. I don’t know why but for some reason i feel her comment holds a little more weight. But hey what do I know.

Christopher Keim obviously you don’t know much. I own and operate a taxi company but it’s really nobody’s business how much either of us earn annually, though admit I couldn’t make ends meet on what an EMT makes. Sounds like the perfect occupation for Tanya though.

I wonder if they would also consider using private security companies for low priority police calls and city workers with water trucks for low priority fire calls? Bet ya they would never consider that!!!

Lexi ScheidtI think it’s a great idea! I called 911 for an ambulance on Easter and felt so bad. Im an EMS student so. I dislocated my knee and was on my second floor and couldn’t get up. not sure if I should have just called someone else though. I felt so bad

Really? You dislocated your knee (patella?)? That’s a case for an ambulance, deer. That’s very painful. You need morphin or other heavy drugs and possibly a short time general anaesthesia for the reposition.

You could’ve used a properly licensed and insured taxi instead of some yahoo with an app driving you in their personal vehicle, with them most likely not telling the auto finance company they have their loan with and the auto insurance company their car is insured with they’re using their personal vehicle to drive people for hire.

Lexi your fine! We get calls for I’m out of Tylenol, Dental Pain, Stubbed Toes, Bed Bugs. I could go on and on.. I work in a system much like DC. Last night I ran a call on a dude that faked a seizure just to get away from his girlfriend of two days because they were arguing all day. If you need us we are here for you! That’s what we do. Your call was justified don’t worry about it any more.

Just when I thought DC Fire could not drag the nation’s EMS system through the mud anymore they already have. Rather than relinquish EMS system that they destroyed they’re calling to transport patients via Uber. My message to Washington DC fire Give It Up and stop placing your pride over people’s lives

This would be a huge liability and end up costing millions from the lawsuits filed.

Jason Hudson First off, thank you for recognizing my great response, I am gratified. Uber is a taxi company that ignores fees and laws that legitimate taxi companies and their drivers must pay and obey by law, or pay a fine or worse. Uber doesn’t provide a car for drivers so they don’t wear out their own personal vehicle. Many auto insurance companies prohibit their policyholder from using their personal vehicle for transporting people for hire. It seems unethical to me that many Uber drivers are sneaks by not telling their auto insurance agent they use their personal vehicle for commercial p…See More

I agree. I HATE uber. There is something very illicit and shady about it. At least Taxi Drivers are regulated, insured, bonded and have someone like a dispatcher to answer to. I feel much safer with a Taxi than I would getting into just "anybody’s car", some total stranger who gives out rides from a cel phone response. NO!

It’s a lousy idea to use scabs driving for Uber in their personal vehicle in place of properly licensed and insured taxi drivers

Michael Schroeder would you call an ambulance due to the fact you were out of a medication and need a ride to the hospital to get it filled due to not having a PCP? Would you call an ambulance due to being in pain due to chronic pain and you ran out of pain medication and have not made an appointment with your pain management doctor? Would you call an ambulance after having a seizure due to the fact you failed to get a refill on your seizure medication due to relying on the ER for medication and not having a PCP or not caring to find one?

Andrew Collins no I wouldn’t because they charge $1000 for an ambulance out where I live.
